Pulling into Claytor State Park, it stuck me at how similar the rolling hills and thick vegetation reminded me of the Missouri Ozarks. Virginia had more pine trees though and larger farms.
The scattered houses are also different, more brick, more two- and three-story estates.
Claytor lake sat at the center of the park. It was large clear and supposedly teaming with fish.
I however failed to catch anything with the exception of a thumbnail sized snail.
We biked around the lake and I fished fast and hard, but to no avail.
The highlight of the trip was meeting John and Elizabeth. They are a wonderful couple from Toronto Canada, biking there way with friends through mid America.
Amazing
